In the Distance Learning scenario, schooling continues in situations when a classroom or school has to be closed for health reasons, instruction will continue to be provided by a student’s classroom teacher. This instruction could occur through online or packet-based methods.

My student has an IEP, 504, ELL, GT, READ or other plan, will he/she still receive services?
  • Delta County School District (DCSD) is committed to providing free and appropriate educational opportunities for all students. Collaboration with families has always been a necessary part of the education process and continues to be during this time. To address the unique needs of students, providers will continue the work with families to collaboratively identify services for each student that can be provided both directly and indirectly in remote and in-person learning environments.
  • DCSD will continue to identify, locate, and evaluate students suspected of needing special services. At the same time, DCSD will be mindful that students have been displaced from their typical learning environment when initiating a referral process.
  • DCSD will follow the student’s Individualized Education Plan, 504, ELL, GT, or READ Plan as written including services, accommodations and modifications. Plans may be adjusted as needed for the circumstances of the learning environment. Plan meetings will be held in-person or in an alternative format. Staff will work with families to determine the best format for the meeting.
