How do I register my student for school?

All students may be registered through our online registration portal. To start registering your child visit the registration link on your school’s website, or www.deltaschools.com. All Delta County School District students, whether attending In-Person or the Online Learning Program will register at this link. You may also contact your local school for more registration information.

Can I visit my student’s school?
  • School visitors will be limited to essential personnel. Limited classroom volunteers will be allowed within buildings. Visitors will not be allowed for class parties, show and tell, lunch, and other activities this year.
  • Parents that need to conduct in-person business with the school office will be required to wear a mask when entering and moving through the building.
What will bussing services look like this year?
  • We are encouraging families to provide their own transportation to school if possible.
  • If sending a student on the bus, parents are required to remain at the bus stop during loading to ensure that students pass the temperature check at the bus stop.
  • Students and parents should maintain social distance while at bus stops.
  • Bus drivers or aides will screen all bus riders for temperatures while loading the bus. If a child has a temperature over 100℉, or displays other COVID-19 related symptoms, they will not be allowed on the bus.
  • Students aged 10 and under are encouraged, while students aged 11 and older are required to wear masks while riding buses.
  • Students will be assigned seats by cohorts, siblings will be assigned seats together regardless of age.
What will meal service look like at school this year?

Students will still receive school meals at breakfast and lunch time. Students will eat in the cafeteria to the extent possible. Students will sit in class cohorts in the cafeteria. Students enrolled in the Online Learning Program may receive a meal from the school’s kitchen.

Do I need to fill out a Free and Reduced Lunch Application?

All families should continue to complete a Free and Reduced Lunch Application as part of the school registration process, whether attending In-Person Learning or the District's Online Learning Program. The Free and Reduced Lunch percentage for DCSD is used to determine federal funding for schools as well as determining which students may be exempt from paying school fees.

What will recess look like this year?

Schools will be scheduling outside recess by cohort. Students do not have to wear a mask while at recess.

How will bathroom use be different?

Schools will be assigning bathrooms to each cohort. Bathrooms will be disinfected daily, and checked for supplies and cleanliness multiple times through the day. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle from home, as they will not be allowed to use drinking fountains.

Will there be school sports, concerts, and other activities?

As of July 31, we are awaiting further information from the Colorado High School Athletics Association which will guide our decisions around sports, concerts, and other events.

Will there be parent/teacher conferences?
  • During non-student contact hours, Parent/Teacher conferences may be held in-person.
  • During scheduled Parent/Teacher conference days, teachers will work with parents to schedule virtual/phone conferences based on district guidelines at that time.
  • All visitors for conferences will be required to be screened at the front office and wear masks while moving through the school.
How can I get internet access or a device for my student?

Please contact your school administrator if you need assistance with gaining either access to a device or internet access for Distance Learning. Students enrolling in the Online Learning Program should contact their local school or the Online Learning Program Coordinator if they need a device.

Will students be able to share materials for games, centers, etc.?

Classrooms might look and feel a bit different, but they will still be joyful and fun! Items can be put into differentiated bags and disinfected at the end of the day. We will ask students to not share items as much as possible. If shared, items should be disinfected between use. Group work can still happen — students will just need to maintain social distancing or wear a mask. Schools and teachers will use visual cues and reminders to promote mask etiquette, hand washing, and social distancing.

What will happen during fire drills, emergency evacuations, shelter in place, and lockdown drills?

Our district and schools will continue to respond to general emergencies, including evacuation plans and crisis intervention. We will plan for safe distancing protocols for fire drills, evacuation, and shelter in place. Staff with crisis intervention training will be identified to assist with behavioral and emotional emergency responses.
