Delta County School District 50J

Caring, Challenging, Learning—Every Student, Every Day!

Vision Statement:

Delta County School District is unconditionally committed to serving the needs of students, parents, and the citizens of Delta County. The following is our vision for success in the areas of relationships, school culture, students, facilities, and leadership.

Delta County School District will be known for its extraordinary relationships. Students will have meaningful relationships with staff members and with each other. They will feel supported, safe, and thus enabled to become life-long learners. All constituents within the school system will have a common purpose—excellence in all things. These relationships will be grounded in high expectations for others and even higher expectations for ourselves. Individuals within the school system will be honest, hardworking, ethical, trustworthy, and respectful. There will be many safety nets in place and multiple adults standing ready to ensure that all students will learn, will grow, and will be prepared for excellence in the 21st Century world.

Delta County School District will convey a culture of excellence in all things endeavored. Excellence in academics, athletics, citizenship, service beyond self, and attitude will be expected from all who enter our schoolhouse doors (students, staff, parents, and community members). Our employees will possess a “Whatever It Takes!” attitude while serving the needs of students, parents, and fellow staff members. Our staff and students will persevere and never accept failure as the end result. Our schools, however, will be safe places to “fail” for in failure we all will have opportunities to grow and learn. We will do what is right, be kind to others, and do so with humility.

Delta County School District will have students who are well prepared to succeed in life. They will be life-long learners and possess the skills and knowledge necessary to be productive citizens. Our students will be self-reliant, creative, and kind. They will have the ability to function as members of a team—working diligently for a cause that is greater than self. Our students will be flexible, positive, and ethical. They will take responsibility for their own actions and will lead by example. Our students will be active participants in all aspects of our educational programs. They will learn to lose with dignity and win with humility.

Delta County School District will have facilities that are well maintained, clean, and conducive to excellent academic achievement. The facilities, in many cases, will be the center of each community. They will be fully utilized by the many constituents of Delta County and represent a source of great pride. Every employee and student of our school system will have a shared responsibility for the condition of our school district facilities.

Delta County School District 50J will be known for its excellent leadership from students, teachers, principals, and district administration. Our leaders will be energetic, passionate, knowledgeable, and courageous. They will lead from a position of respect and service rather than from a position of title and authority. Our leaders will be unconditionally committed to do “whatever it takes” to produce results in student academic growth. They will be accessible and good communicators. They will possess the skill to discern what is the correct action to take and have the confidence to pursue those ends. Our leaders will function as productive members of a team, assisting their colleagues to achieve excellence. They will present a professional image and be positive role models for their subordinates. Leaders in our school system will empower their employees and/or students to explore new ideas, to utilize their unique skills and abilities, and to implement innovative instructional strategies. Our leaders will have high expectations for students and staff; however, they will have even higher expectations for themselves.
